Slide__01l9gKObEd-WfYQ0GneCwQ_subTitle=A Stellarator requires a substantially higher effort as compared with a Tokamak for construction and installation of the (non-planar) magnetic field coils.

The coils of W-7X will consist of the supraconducting material niob-titanium and will nearly loss-free generate the magnetic field of 6 Tesla (3 Tesla along the coil axis).

The plasma will be heated by use of ten microwave transmission tubes (gyrotrons).

Wendelstein 7-X is intended to demonstrate the usefulness for power station of the Stellarator concept.

Start-up is planned for 2010.
