Text__YevSIKOaEd-WfYQ0GneCwQ_text=Einstein predicted as a consequence of his theory a value for the light deflection of 1,75 arcseconds (corresponding to 0,005 degree), which is twice the value according to Newtons theory.<p></p>This became verified in May 1919 by astronomical observations of a British expedition, led by Eddington. This event made Einstein suddenly famous also in the non-scientific public.
