Text__xIjggKOaEd-WfYQ0GneCwQ_text=On 19 October 1899, Einstein submits to the \u201CHigh Federal Council of the Swiss  Confederation in Bern\u201D a petition to acquire the \u201Crights of Swiss cantonal and  communal citizen,\u201D which was granted on 21 February 1900. Einstein kept his Swiss  citizenship until his death.
