Installation of ArcGIS on a Mac

• Install Virtual-Box (VB)
• Create a virtual disk within VB of at least 20 GB!
• Create a host on VB, install here Windows (I did XP) on your virtual disk, you may define also a common folder (Gemeinsamer Ordner)
• Start the host ones in Safe-Mode (while boot, press F8) then install from the Virtual-Box-Menu the Host-Extension (Geräte-Gasterweiterung installieren)
• Import all Updates, Servicepacks etc. (it will take several reboots and repeated Windows-Updates!)
• Install .Net-Framework 3.5 SP1 incl. Updates (.Net-Framework 4 does not work with ArcGIS 10!)
• Mount the ArcGISDesktop...iso to the host (1. under storage (Massenspeicher) include the CD/DVD-ROM, 2. select the appropriate *.iso)
• Install ArcGIS as required
• Install the ArcGIS-License Manager
