We should have a plugin for persistent annotations that talks to an external annotation server.

Annotations should consist of

• a mark (x/y coordinate) or a region (x/y/w/h coordinates) or a polygon (to be done)
• a text (and or a URL?)
• the name of the user that created the annotation
• the date and time of the annotation
• permissions (?)

The API of the annotation server should be like the API for the Annotator (​http://annotateit.org) application.

• don't show the red overlay when the region covers all of the current scaler image

• don't show the coordinates in the info window if the regions were read from HTML

• make a new button and function "delete all regions" which does not affect the other parameters (especially zoom) - useful when using Digilib as an editing tool

the scroll arrows scroll in the wrong direction when the image is rotated or mirrored.
