Sally and I have gone over the issue of the romanization of Allāh in the database and found there are a number of unintended consequences. For example, <al-ʿillaẗ>, which has nothing to do with Allāh, is Romanized incorrectly as <al-ʿ Allāh>, and there is no way to fix this without changing the transliterated form into an incorrect version. We have therefor concluded that it would be best to remove this entire part from the coding. In the attached, these are rules 7a) and 7b). The original motivation for making these rules is no. 23 of the LOC romanization rules: ​https://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/romanization/arabic.pdf We think, though, that it is much less problematic to follow the LOC rules by manual intervention.
