= MPIWG-MPDL Content Project =

This is the wiki for the XML Workflow Service subproject within the [attachment:MPDL_project_desc.pdf cooperative project between the MPIWG and MPDL]. The other subproject is the [https://it-dev.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/tracs/mpdl-project-software Software Development Project]. Please check also the [http://mpdl.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de project page] on the MPIWG homepage.

The project could be continued from 2012-2015 with support of the European Union financed project [http://dm2e.eu DM2E] and by the BMBF project [http://www.textgrid.de TextGrid]. DM2E allowed the continuation on the work of the online [https://it-dev.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/tracs/mpdl-project-content/wiki/digi-tools-doku workflow tool] and !TextGrid the work on the Standards for transcriptions.

DM2E also helped to create a new extension of [http://thepund.it/ pundit]. The MPIWG text tools can now be used to annotate texts on a web page with linguistic terms. [wiki:pundit More can be found here.]

Main achievements of this subproject are 
  * The [wiki:despecs Data Entry Specifications], i.e. the rules for transcribing European and Chinese texts
  * The [wiki:echo-schema Schema] for the XML versions of the transcriptions
  * The [wiki:workflow Workflow] for transforming raw transcriptions into valid XML texts
  * 120 [http://mpdl-proto.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/mpdl/attribute-query-result.xql?docbase=echo&query-type=browse&order-by=author&pn=1 XML texts]

Scholars have also begun to encode text themselves by directly typing XML. The first project to do so is the [wiki:Harriot] project. For this purpose, there are also [wiki:XMLDESpecs guidelines] how to start with writing documents in XML as well as a [wiki:XMLEditorIntroduction Manual] for installing a working environment.
