User Rights Management

Intention

While the Max-Planck-Society propagates the open access policy we would also like to invite scholars which may have a more restrictive policy towards their data. At least for the process of data collection and preparation we will need to enable the "owner" of the data to limit the access to a group.

• Guest:
  • no login needed
  • can see&search all public datasets
  • can see&search all metadata sets

• Registered user:
  • can create table/map/view (becomes the "owner" of it)
  • can apply to become a member of a group and thereby inherit access rights of the group

• Owner:
  • must be registered user and must be logged in
  • must fill in metadata directly after table/map/view creation
  • can edit table/map/view
  • can delete table/map/view
  • can release table/map/view to a group, all registered users or the public for editing or see&search

• Group-Admin:
  • can create groups
  • can include registered users
