For the editing of manuscripts, a few new tags have to be added to the schema.

Remarks by editors

  • <unsure>some text</unsure> to mark text as being hard to decipher. Suggested display: [¿]some text[?]
  • <unsure/> should not be used, a better solution for this is <illegible/>. Suggested display: [???]
  • <omission/> should mark passages that have not been transcribed yet. Suggested display: [...]
  • <editor style="insertion">some text</editor> should mark passages inserted by the editor as a sort of explanation. Suggested display: [some text]

Additionally, commentaries and translations have already been inserted into the transcription of Harriot. The question is where to display these. Either in directly on the page or in the annotation system. Right now, as a quick and dirty solution, these texts are displayed where they appear in the transcription. However, display should at least be better to differentiate from the transcript and preferably switchable.

Other additions

  • insertions are currently displayed like superscript, so they are hard to distinguish
  • lacuna would be nearly the same as <omission/> above but would rather be found in printed texts.
