Formax Meeting
Klaus Thoden
October 21, 2008
Present: PD, MDH, WS, US, KT, SPT
1 Introduction
Main objective of this meeting was to select the books that are going to be sent to China.
2 Revision of DE Specs 1.1.1
Data Entry Specs 1.1.1 was revised stylistically by MDH. The corrected version 1.1.2 is now frozen and will go to China.
3 Selecting texts to be sent to China
3.1 Present list is not prioritized
US remarked that the list on the wiki (version 11, now deprecated) is not prioritized but sorted alphabetically. Books of the highest priority were then selected:
- Benedetti (1585)
- Conimbricenses (1606)
- Euclid (Clavius-Edition) (1607)
This is Batch 1 which will be sent to China next Friday or Monday.
3.2 Write special rules for the books of Batch 1 where necessary
Some books show idiosyncrasies which cannot be dealt with in the DE Specs. For these books, supplements are added to the DE Specs showing how things should be done.
3.3 Work sample
PD suggested that a special work sample is not necessary. It would be sufficient if the first 50 pages of all books would be sent to us for evaluation.
3.4 Check for faulty images
Before the images are shipped to China, their quality has to be assured.
4 Postponing the XML Schema
Due to the priority of having the books digitized the next meeting of the XML Schema Working Group was postponed again.
