• ​spaces within words ("e cclipses")
• ​catchwords and signatures
• the use of U and V: ​writing v for u ​writing u for v
• ligature ß for ss
• ​missing hyphens
• ​long citations

• Latin (and Greek) ligatures, for example ​ct (simple ligature) and ​que (complex ligature) (see also here for a longer list)
• ​paper creases
• ​extensive marginal notes and also ​handwritten notes and sketches
• italics: ​single word ​whole paragraph
