Vitruvius 1511
Vitruvius Pollio (1511): M. Vitruvius per Iocundum solito castigatior factus cum figuris et tabula ut iam legi et intelligi possit ECHO
Part of WO7. Sent with DESpecs version 2.0.1

1. First Analysis
- handwritten underlines throughout the book
- handwritten index
Difficulties
The text contains also words which have been struck through by hand. The typed text of Bacon 1670 shows that underlines by hand have been ignored (because the specs say that horizontal lines are not to be typed?). However, as these marks might prove useful lateron, they should be noted by the data entry. A tag different from the <hd>
has been suggested which deals mainly with handwritten text and drawings outside the text body.
Special Instructions
If you can identify words in the text which have been underlined or struck through by hand, type them as <hd ul>word</hd>
.
- Example 1 (from Vitruvius 1511):
vita, <hd ul>Epicurus</hd> vero
- Example 2 (from Vitruvius 1513):
qui <hd ul>cellam</hd> circúcludunt
2. Questions From Formax
Q
A
3. Analysis of the Result
Findings
- recognized underlinings as <ul> not as <hd ul>, if at all
- new ligatures are ok
- Typed the handwritten index!
Recommendation
4. Post-Processing
