1. First Analysis
Difficulties
- table of contents
- one rather odd table (p 209)
- external source; some pages are missing
Special Instructions
Special instruction for the odd table: Do not type the vertically printed words. Type the last column (La Regle ... $en$ible.) as a normal paragraph outside the table.
2. Questions From Formax
Q Please see Bion_1723, page 410, 413, 418, 435, in our opinion, we code the above pages as on figure per page and put the Fig 1, Fig. 2 in to separate <desc> and code the variable names for each small figure as one <var> per small figure,is it right? If not, how to code them?
A The pages consist of many small figures, and the main text refers to these small figures. However, sometimes it is difficult to tell the small figures apart. For this reason, we follow your suggestion to mark each of these pages as a single figure. However, if you can identify a description as the caption of a small figure, we would like you to use <cap>
instead of <desc>
. Please find find some examples below.
Please note:
- Contrary to the DESpecs, you can use more than one
<cap>
in<fig>
. - Make sure that you type the complete text of the figure.
- However, identical captions or descriptions should be typed only once. An example is Bion 410, number 22. (On the other hand, identical variables should be typed as often as they occur, for example
<var>7 1 7 2 2 9 9</var>
.) - In
<var>
, insert a linebreak between groups of variables, e.g. for every separate object, even if two or more objects share the same description. An example is Bion 410, number 10. - This instruction applies only to Bion_1723.
Bion 410:
<pb> <fig> <cap it>Planche Deuxieme. Page 8.</cap> <cap>1</cap> <cap>2</cap> ... <cap>10</cap> <var>A B C D a b c d</var> <cap>11</cap> <var>A B C A B C D</var> <cap>12</cap> ... <cap>18</cap> <cap>19</cap> <cap>20</cap> <cap>21</cap> <cap>22</cap> <cap>23</cap> </fig>
Bion 413:
<pb> <fig> <cap it>Planche Cinquieme. Page 28.</cap> <cap it>Fig. 1.</cap> <var>C B D A 1 2 3 4 5</var> <cap it>Fig. 2.</cap> <var>D F B A C H G E</var> ... </fig>
Bion 418:
<pb> <fig> <cap it>Planche Dixieme. Page 118.</cap> <cap it>Fig. 1.</cap> <cap>A</cap> <var>5 2 1 6 3 4 35 59 60 72 81 90 101 106 120</var> <cap>B</cap> <desc>Nord</desc> <desc>Sud</desc> <var>6 6 a b 5 1 1</var> ... <cap>M</cap> <var>3 2 4 5 9 6 7 8 1 10</var> <cap it>Fig. 2.</cap> <var>7 1 7 2 2 9 9</var> ... </fig>
Please note: On this page, the "A" etc. are not variables, but identify the "tiny figures" that belong to the small figure "Fig. 1". Therefore we have marked them as <cap>
and not as part of <var>
. We are aware that a page like this is extremely difficult to mark.
Bion 435:
<pb> <fig> <cap it>Planche Vingt-septiême. Page 370.</cap> <cap it>Fig. 1.</cap> <desc it>Amsterdam 52.</desc> <desc it>Paris 49.</desc> <desc it>Madrid 41.<desc> <var>G A E D B D F C 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 I II III IIII V VII VII IX X I II III IIII V VI VII VII IX X XI XII ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♒ ♓ ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋</var> <cap it>Fig. 2.</cap> ... </fig>
